Simple Tips for Your Eyes
A diet rich in leafy greens, fruits, and fish can help support vision health. Antioxidants,
lutein, and omega-3 fatty acids are particularly beneficial.
Routine check-ups with an eye specialist are essential for monitoring the progression of AMD and
detecting changes early.
Smoking is a risk factor for the development and progression of AMD. Quitting smoking can
significantly reduce the risk.
Wear UV-protective sunglasses to shield your eyes from harmful ultraviolet radiation.
Regular exercise can lower the risk of AMD and contribute to overall health.
This test should be performed daily, alternating between each eye, to detect early visual
changes.
Maintaining a healthy blood pressure and cholesterol level can help
reduce the risk of AMD.

IVOM is a procedure in which medication is injected directly into the eye to treat certain retinal
diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, and macular edema.
AMD is a retinal disease that affects central vision and occurs in two forms: dry and wet AMD. Wet
AMD can lead to rapid vision loss, while dry AMD progresses more slowly over time.
IVOM is used to administer anti-VEGF medications, which inhibit the growth of leaky blood vessels
in the eye, slowing down or stabilizing disease progression.
Most patients require multiple injections. The frequency depends on the individual response to the
therapy. Initially, injections are given monthly, but over time, the intervals may be extended.
The injection is performed under local anesthesia, making the procedure generally painless.
However, some patients may experience mild pressure in the eye.
Common side effects include temporary eye irritation, redness, and a slight foreign body
sensation. Serious complications, such as infections or retinal detachment, are rare.
Patients with wet AMD, diabetic macular edema, or other retinal diseases that respond to anti-VEGF
therapy are typically good candidates for IVOM.
